Suggested Settings for Makerbot Replicator 2 and Rounded Prints

Printer: Makerbot Replicator 2
File: Golf Ball

Special Settings: For this golf ball I made custom settings because I was trying to make the print quick but accurate. I printed the file without a raft but slowed the first layer way down to only 5 mm/s. This helped the file stick better for the critical first layer. I also took down my layer thickness to 200 microns to speed things up as well as give less room for error (less layers). Print time was about 45 minutes at 10% infill and I also did a version at 0% infill with print time of about 35 minutes.

Additional Tip: Putting a layer of glue on top of the blue tape on my print bed has made a huge difference in how well my prints stick to the bed. I recommend a thin layer with an all purpose glue stick. I now use less rafts and prints come out so much cleaner on the bottom layer.

Happy Printing,

Charles
